We believe education is a fundamental building block of the conservation process. An integral part of the Alladale Wilderness Reserve vision is our professionally managed Highland Outdoor and Wilderness Learning (HOWL) programme, which offers a specially designed and expert-led environmental journey for local school children.

Since the programme started in 2007, thousands of children have taken part in the tailor made experience. Local teenagers enjoy a plethora of activities including hiking, orienteering, bushcraft, cooking, tree planting and much more. All the while improving their understanding of the natural world, ecology and conservation - but also taking home key life skills. The students connect to nature which hopefully ignites a passion and interest to help protect wild places.
