RESTORATION:
At Alladale, we have set about restoring 100 square kilometres of the Highlands. We believe in the power of restoring natural processes, habitats and native species.
Alladale is a wilderness in the heart of the highlands with a vast expanse of rugged scenery, where you can disconnect from everyday life and immerse yourself in the wild. From dramatic glens and stunning mountains, to glistening rivers and glacial mountain lochs; our 23,000 acres of wonder and beauty will capture your heart. We offer a range of accommodations and activities that allow you to get closer to nature, indulge your passions, and explore the wilder side of the Scottish Highlands.
In 2003 I was fortunate enough to acquire Alladale, a former family sport estate, located deep in the Scottish Highlands. Just an hour’s drive north of Inverness, Alladale Wilderness Reserve lies on the eastern side of the watershed, enjoying a micro-climate with an above average number of sunny, rain-free days.
Set within majestic mountains, deep glens, high lochs and two rivers, our four lodges offer unparalleled experiences that allow you to unwind in a space more akin to your home than a hotel. Our friendly hospitality and ranger teams will do everything possible to ensure your stay is special and tailored to your needs.
Our vision at Alladale is to see the restoration of as much flora and fauna as possible, which will help create a healthier and more balanced environment on which we all depend.
Over the last two decades a million trees have been planted, damaged peatlands repaired, the native red squirrel reintroduced, and thousands of teenagers have attended our week-long school trips. Your stay at Alladale directly contributes to the restoration, wildlife and educational projects on and around the Reserve.
We look forward to welcoming you to the heart of the Highlands.

“In wilderness is the preservation of the world”
HENRY DAVID THOREAU
Naturalist and environmentalist
We partner with conservation groups and conscious businesses to help restore nature on the Reserve, and empower the next generation of environmental stewards.
We give back to the local community in everything we do at Alladale. Our work focuses on education; helping to connect people with nature and the great outdoors.
Alladale hosts 150 local schoolchildren each year on expert-led environmental journeys, supporting their education and development. During the weeklong trips children hike, navigate and craft their way to a deeper ecological understanding of the natural world – with our rustic ‘off grid’ Deanich Lodge offering an invaluable base to escape from the everyday and embrace nature’s teachings.
Discover MoreAlladale’s Willow Centre is an educational and wellness hub. We offer Reserve guests a space to learn about restoration, sustainability and the benefits of connecting with nature. It is a space for the community to come together, to forge new experiences, and leave inspired.
