Water voles were once Britain's fastest declining mammal, but the Reserve is home to a thriving population of water voles. Signs of water voles can be seen across the bottom of Alladale's glens, along the Alladale and Abhainn a' Glinne Mhoir river, as well as smaller streams and burns.
